Loneliness can make you vulnerable to disease. Living alone without family or friends may not only cause mental problems, but also it can increase the risk of some serious physical diseases.
In an article recently published in the Journal of “Plus Medicine”, scientists claim that the negative effect of being alone on health is equivalent to the effect of eating 15 cigarettes a day! Loneliness increases the risk of depression, anxiety disorders and drug addiction. Moreover, high blood pressure, cardiovascular and cancer rates are also high among the lonely people. The reason behind this is that loneliness creates a kind of mental pressure. Extreme stress is responsible for the emission of hormone, high blood pressure, heart diseases, hypertension etc. On the other hand, the proximity of the loved ones increases the emission of oxytocin hormone, which brings serenity in life. It also reduces inflammation and stress.
